Regiments are ordering their Leeks, I can almost smell the Welsh Cakes and hear the Harps. Meanwhile the 'Knights of Saint David' are getting themselves and their ''Cilts Cymru'' out of the closet, and look around for their 'Baneri Dewi'. If you have read my previous posts on subject of Dydd Dewi, you will be aware that I am not exactly overwealmed by this ''Mysoginist'' Christian Character Dewi, seeing as I tend more towards being pro - Pelagius and near enough Pagan, and perhaps a Patriotic Idolator as are a number of other patriots in annual commemoration around the ''Rock of Cilmeri''. .
Interesting, is it not that Dydd Dewi celebrations, since AZINCOURT have been very much associated with Welsh Reiments of the British Army. It was the very WASP Royal Welsh Fusiliers who have been particularly associated with celebrating Dydd Dewi, especially when they were in Northern Ireland in 1790's. Today, all Brit Army Welsh Regiments are encouraged to promote their 'Welsh Identity' on Dydd Dewi with leek eating etc. Not least using Dydd Dewi to recruit, as on the Hayes in Caerdydd on Dydd Dewi 2007, see photos below. Seeing as there were so many Radical Republicans and Plaid ''Socialists'' about in Caerdydd for the Dydd Dewi Parading, odd there was no demonstrations against recruiting of Welsh Lads to fight in England's wars. However, come to think of it, I did not see any of the ''Usual Suspects'' of Anti - War Protestors as Wales CND or Social Forum Cymru protesting either, perhaps they were Dewi Day Parading too?

Nevertheless despite my distaste for any Welsh over dosing on ''Cambrianism'' (see http://cofcenedl.blogspot.com/) I fondly remember my own young memories of Dydd Dewi and in later life, how my own children enjoyed this ''Welsh Experience''. Unfortunatly as with Welsh Rugby and it's ''Sports Nationalism'', Dydd Dewi is but another expression of a form of rather Welsh Anglo - Saxon Protestant ''Cultural Nationalism''. All of which in latter years has been confused deliberatly by ''Devolution Dilettantes'' as being of advantage to Political Nationalist Struggle. Nothing can be further from reality, as the truth of the associated ''Tartan Taffery'' should clearly indicate to those Political Nationalists with but one iota of Patriotic sense and savvy.

This Welsh Marching Band is well worth supporting, and you will see on their website below that they are carrying out good patriotic endeavours with much community enterprise. I just try to ignore the ''Cilts Cymraeg'' but I am not going to slag them off just because of my opposition to signs of ''Tartan Taffery'' which in this case does not really apply. The Band as many members of 'Balchder Cymru' involved, who are also sponsors of 'THE 18' Heraldic Honour Guard, and their members are far from being ''Devolution Dilettantes''. If it were not for these Patriots the annual Rali Cilmeri would be much the poorer, this we need to keep in mind. Other than this, the Band provides good example for others to follow, in as many communities of Wales as possible, but hopefully not wearing ''Cilts Cymraeg'. Not least I suggest, other bands please be more creative in name selection, as 'Cambria' in context of a Band reminds me of a name that might be used by a 'Colliery Band'. Post Subject Continues: However, unfortunatly there are far too many patriots around these days without much Patriotic savvy whilst others, particularly certain ''Good Ole Boys'' who have just given up the ghost, or perhaps just want a quiet life in their Greying Years. Too many are quite prepared to let patriotic posing and posturing annually at Rali Cilmeri and Dydd Dewi parading become surrogate for more purposeful patriotic radical political nationalist struggle. Sadly, I detect signs of a radical patriot ''End of Days'' with the mentality that considers the ''Sham Senedd'' about as good as it gets. Many blog on about Welsh Independence but that's about as far as it gets, plenty of Talk the Talk but little Walk the Walk, not even a call to SAVE OUR SOVEREIGNTY wakes anyone out of languishing lethergy (see SOFRANIAETH at http://sofraniaeth.blogspot.com/ ). The reality is that one can play as much Welsh Rugby as one wishes and have a Dydd Dewi every other day in the year, and such will never ever contribute much more to Political Nationalist Struggle. Why? simply because like Rugby, Saint David and all that! it's just all become to associated like old King Arthur with British Protestant History, FIN!

However, all this aside I am not so stupid as to say that we go and ignore completly such manifestations of ''Sports Nationalism'' and ''Cultural Nationalism'', such may be used as Political Platforms from which to carry out Patriotic Political Nationalist Adfywiad Agit - Prop. But! But! But! Welsh Patriots need to become more as Baltic, Basque and Catalan Nationalists or as 'Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol' of the 60's in Wales (see AWNM&S Hist Archive at http://awnms.blogspot.com/), the trouble is there are now more ''Tartan Taffs'' than really 'Troublesome Taffs'. However, there are a few out there who have good 'Adfywiad Gwladgarol' makings potential, particularly in and around the ranks of 'Balchder Cymru', although I am not convinced that this 'body' really exists anymore? I mean the movement not the beer by that name, the ''Balchder Boyos'' were more likly to be there for the Patriotic Principle and Action than the likes of any ''Good Ole Boys'' who more often than not, turn up for the beer.

Unfortunatly, I cannot see John 'Sion' Roberts and his MACYFIAID ANNWFAN - The Future? being much different, we shall see and maybe sooner as later? M.A. will have opportunity enought to prove that their ''Hornets'' are just not more pathetic purile pint pot PRATriots? But that's another story, one I shall return to sooner as later but now lets get back to 'Dydd Dewi', and all that! Of course the Politics aside, well it's a nice patriotic day for the kiddies.

Even I realise that it would be fruitless to throw the baby out with the bath water, so yes make the most of Dydd Dewi, not least with the kiddies. For this reason I oppose making Dydd Dewi a National Holiday as so much is centred on celebrations in the schools of Wales without which Dydd Dewi could be a pretty damp squib. Unless, we have really major Dydd Dewi celebrations in as many of our communities as possible. Here, I see that Abertawe is setting a better example than Caerdydd, despite fact of, what may be percieved as the National Dydd Dewi Parade being held there. This in mind, that is the great possibility of 'Dydd Dewi' being made a 'Welsh National Holiday', I consider it a patriotic priority for patriots to give attention to advance of Dydd Dewi events and activities in their communities, including national 'Welsh Pride Parades' partcularly with Children in mind. Possibly such community parades should have the nature of a Patriotic Pageant and be platform content of historic figures from our history for children to dress up and enjoy 'Dydd Dewi', as much as they do in School. Yes, I am softening up on Dydd Dewi Day, but community celebrations in main because, as others have pointed out, that if this day becomes a National Holiday and the kids do not go to School, what then? Think about it, obvious what will happen if there is no School day around to encourage Dydd Dewi Celebrations, the kids will just play at being ''Mall Rats'', or sit in a McDonalds all day or whatever?

Thus this in mind all our communities should follow the example of Abertawe and Mumbles where there is held a Dragon Parade. As for the annual Caerdydd parade, in time I can see this becoming more and more commercial, and then the Council and Chamber of Trade will take over one way or another to make it a Tourism Attraction as Saint Patricks Day in Ireland. I am not opposed to this as long as Radical Patriots recognise the 'Nature of the Beast' and treat it for what it is worth, in main a diversion from real Patriotic National struggle but still may be used to some limited patriotic means as flying of NATIONALIST FLAGS TO SHOW A NATIONALIST DIMENSION. Such in mind, I would suggest that for the most part Patriots support their own Dydd Dewi Day Community Events, activities and Parades but when Dydd Dewi falls on a Saturday, as this year, as many as patriots as possible support the Cardiff Parade. But Please do so with some real radical patriotic purpose as I propose in a previous post, regards mass use of Nationalist Flags and not just the ''Anglican'' Yellow Cross of Redemption.

efore I go on, a short commercial break. As a young patriot, on my return from Gwlad yr Haf in 1962, or was that 1963? I hitched down to Penfro to pick spuds but arrived a few weeks too early for that, so after visiting Pembroke Castle I went on to St Davids, to visit the Cathedral. I arrived too late to view inside but after a few pints in a local pub, I went and found myself some where to ''sleep rough'' in the grounds of the Cathedral, which I did. That night, I had one hell of a fright, a near enough ''Hammer Horror'' kind of experience which I will soon reveal to you in my TAN y BONT blog http://cymrugothic.blogspot.com/ Following that night I went on to work on a farm in Cwm Gwuan for some months prior to attending the Plaid Cymru summer school in Fishguard. Later in the in the 60's I returned to pick spuds in Penfro on a numer of occaisions, and since have often visted the Peninsula, well worth it too and might do so this year for Dydd Dewi?
