The Story of Prince Madog and his supposed discovery of America, is a well known and a well worn tale, at least in Wales. It has of course been hotly debated, and certainly if Madog did get to America, there is almost universally acceptance that the Native Americans got to the Americas first. Though there are some who are puting the idea forward that Pacific Island Peoples may had reached the South American Pacific Coast, and that even Japanese might have made it to the North American Pacific Coast.

Europeans are however, infatuated with the Atlantic Coast, in this connection it is generally accepted that the Vikings made it to North America before Columbus or even Madog accepting that story to be true. Was not only Welsh speaking, but also spoke Gaelic. would it not be a good idea not only to commemorate a real Welsh person not only because he is famous but what he has achieved (Independence) I would like to see a monument in Llandaf in time for his tercentenary (1713) unveiled by a notable US statesperson.
