5th NOVEMBER: GUY FAWKES, Gun Powder, Treason & Plot. The Welsh Connections.

.

There is but one Welsh Connection I want to draw your attention to, on this day of Guy Fawkes night and that is in direction of Hugh Owen, 1th Century Welsh Catholic Conspirator. See link for brief details >The National Library of Wales :: Dictionary of Welsh Biography HUGH OWEN (1538-1618), Roman Catholic conspirator, was a younger son of Owen ap ... He kept in touch with Welsh affairs and frequently used Welsh in his ...yba.llgc.org.uk/en/s-OWEN-PLA-1550.html - 17k - Cached - Similar pages - Note thisMore results from yba.llgc.org.uk » I have no particular time or sympathy for either Protestant or Catholic causes in the 16th century, but I will proclaim against the protestant brainwashing Wales has had to put up with since the Tudor Reformation. There is much room for some revisionism in Welsh History, including 18th century Liberal ''Cultural Nationalist'' and later Nationalist Versions of that History. However, some contemporary Welsh Catholic Cultural Nationalist views need a fresh look at, here I am talking of Saunders Lewis in relation to the 1536 Act of Annexation, regards proof of the Tudors seeking to destroy the Welsh Language. All rather takes a fall when in due course, not too distant from 1536 at Caerwys they sponsor not one but two Eisteddfod, and in so doing are supporting what becomes the 'Welsh Bardic Establishment'. This of course is to the advantage of the Welsh Language as will be the Welsh Bible but of course the motivation was the promotion of Anglo - Establishment Protestantism and the English Crown. It is from these times that the Welsh Language becomes very much the platform of Anglican and later Non - Comformist Protestantism at least up to decline of Non - Conformity in the early 20th Century. Out of all this came of course Welsh racism toward the Irish and an absolute loyalty to the English Crown which survives to this day. Of course it's not all a matter of Religion, behind much of this are the economics of patronage and privilege, and that too is very much still with us today. Whatever, think it all over and begin your revisionist rethink whilst pondering over the life and times of a real ''Welsh Osma Bin Laden'', Hugh Owen of Plas - du, Caernarfonshire. Whilst your at it look into the life of Thomas Cromwell architect of the new Tudor 'English Protestant Identity' and History, this then has a great deal to with Shakespeare as the chief Elizabethan promoter of this English Identity and History with which we continue to be brainwashed by in ''Welsh Theatre'' today.

PS: I seen an excellent play in Caerdydd last year about Hugh Owen, I am sure you will find information on that too, via the web.
