This house at top end of Gilfach Goch marked memory of Tywysog Owain IV , by proudly flying Baneri Glyndwr, and in the land of 'How green was my Valley' too. I am proud to say too, that some of my roots are in Gilfach Goch. On my Fathers side, the family are Gilfach people, with an history of mining in the blood, and quite an interesting family history it is too but suffice to say for now, I remember my younger days playing in the streets of Gilfach Goch.
.
I am told it was Gilfach Goch miners who were radically to the fore during the Tonypandy Riots 1910 (go see my Red Remembrancer blog), also note that Gilfach Goch at one time of Coal Mining troubles was occupied by Scots Soldiers. Whatever, there I was spending a Sunday travelling around doing some foto research with the Tonypandy Riots 1910 - 2010 Centenary Commemoration in mind, and my day out ends at foot of Baner Glyndwr, not Baner Goch!

Who Remembered: Well certainly and about time, the North East Wales Borders Tourist Publication at last got around to remembering about Owain Glyndwr. Including this foto of the Corwen Statue and brief info in one of their publications. For a number of years, the publishers of this Tourism material have totally forgotten to mention Owain Glyndwr, other than in name of Corwen's Tafarn Glyndwr. So things might be looking up! Maybe?

There is now even a 'Gwlad Glyndwr' established which is worth a visit, so do if in the area.

However, be great if this 'Gwlad Glyndwr' could be extended to cover all of the North Eastern March, inc Denbighshire. Hopefully one day Patriots at least if not the local Town Council et al, will organise an annual major Gwyl Glyndwr in Corwen where one should be held on and about 16 Medi annually.

But no, only Embassy Glyndwr and Cofiwn have ever bothered organising such, mores the pity! So, c'mon Pobl Corwen can you not deliver, after all you have a fantastic new Glyndwr statue now, is it not worth now attempting to really attract people to the town to see it? I do believe however that Balchder Cymru is to organise a walk to top of Caerdrewyn on Saturday 19 September, for further details of all things Owain Glyndwr, do go see Embassy Glyndwr blog: Owain Glyndwr Communicates.

Who forgot Owain Glyndwr, big time this year, awful but perfectly true. None other that a collection of School
s who organised a Cardiff Castle tribute to the 1909 National Pageant. This pageant was supposed to be about the Medieval history of Wales but they jumped from Hywel Dda to Henry V and conclude their Pageant with the Battle of Azincourt. Hywel Teifi must have been eating his heart out and spitting blood, go see his excellent book on the 1909 National Pageant, and not least pay attention to what he says in his concluding chapters.

Enough to make one sick but those 'Brits' at Cardiff Castle produced a brochure showing an English Reenactor riding around as Henry V at one of their annual events. God help us in 2015, the 600th Anniversary of Battle of Azincourt, we will get really dosed up with some 'taffy loving' English History, that makes most of our 'Three Feather' Shower swoon something English Royal Blue!

Of course you could do something about this, by getting stuck into my BRENHINOL CYMRU Initiative, not le
ast Gwladgarol Gwynedd perhaps. For god sake do, or some other Medieval enthusiasts, as I want to move away from history of Princes towards history of People and workers, and their struggles. As at Tonypandy 1910 and Llanelli 1911, noting I have had enough of worrying about Investitures of English Princes of Wales.
.
After Rali Cilmeri, and my little tribute to Glyn Rowlands and other 'Old Comrades' who have passed away, I am moving away from Cilmeri and Medieval Wales. I am even saying goodbye to the ''Sixties Struggle'', for me it really is time to move on, or rather move back to reclaim and reconsider my 'Hwntw History' and Socialist roots, firmly planted in coal dust not rural Liberal or Cultural Nationalist grass.
