All this of course does not just apply to the Vyrnwy Estate but many other areas of Welsh Land, Forests and Rivers are 'Up For Sale' too, this just exposes what a 'Fantasy Farce' Heledd Hardy has embarked upon with her daft idea of 'Buying the Vyrnwy Estate'. No regard to the fact that it's on a lease of 125 years, then the land has to be given back, nice one Heledd!
.
Heledd, dump this daft idea! as all you are achieving is to possibly 'up the price' on this land, only to the benefit of the Shareholders of the Vyrnwy Estate, wonderfull 'Welsh Wally' of an idea aka 'Own Goal! Heledd! please do not be the Heledd of the poem 'Canu Heledd' who laments the passing of the Court of Cynddylan be instead as Gwenllian of Cydweli, Warrior Princess. Not sit on the side lines of struggle as Heledd in the poem but c'mon join 'Y Cymry', the few who will march to DEFEND our land and RESIST the 'New Colonialism of Cheque Book Conqest'. Bring with you as many of your associates; Writters, Poets and Musicians, Artists and the otherwise Artistic and Creative Cymric Country Men and Women. C'mon 'Celebs Cymru' you too! come from distant lands, come home and march with the 'Common Folk' - 'Brothers and Sisters of the Ox' - Join the 'Barefoot Welsh Doggis'. You too, Jill, Leanne and Bethan, if all you 'Sisters' would have marched to 'Greenham Common and no doubt for Gaza, you as sure as Annwn! can march for Cymru/Wales to Llyn Erfynwy, Yes! Of course you can? Bring some 'Plaid Brothers' with you too!
.
Let us all go fourth and march in the the spirit of Owain Glyndwr's 'Barefoot Welsh Doggis', See Dafydd Ifan y Goch rising up his Red Pitchfork, hear the call of his son Siaci Ifan y Gof, carrying before you the Baner with upon it the rallying cry 'TRECH GWLAD NAG ARGLWYDD' to remind us of the 'Land & Liberty' struggle in Cwmwd Caeo. These are historical echos of the west and it was from the west that 'Ysbryd Ceffyl Pren' came to Pentref Penderynand the 'Iron Town' of Hirwaun where Lewis Lewis would lead a revolt under a Red Flag and a Baner that had daubed upon it the words 'BARA NEU WAED'. If you have learnt nothing thus far, then I hope at least you have learnt that 'Cymraeg' was then the language of not just pacifist protest but of Revolt and Rebellion, you can at least pitch into a Radical Campaign?
.
Remember, not least in the Gwent where this week the National Eisteddfod is being held, the Gwent where the Normans carried out a most bloody henious slaughter of Welsh Chiefs at Abergavenai in 1175 just one more episode in the biggest grab for land in Welsh History then made by the Normans, followed up by the English whom with their Statutes of Rhuddlun 1294 seized the land of the Princes of Gwynedd and Deheubarth. Much parcelled out to the 'Anglo -Norman followers of Edward I, who later around his Castles would establish 'Colonial Borough Towns as the Normans had already done throughout 'Marcher Wallia'. Edward I had 'Y Berfeddwlad (modern Denbighshire) along with parts of Ynys Mon 'Ethnically Cleansed' as the Normans had already done in Penfro, Gwyr and 'Bro Morgannwg', filling these land with 'Flemish Settlers' displaced by floods in their own lands.
.
Thus had occured the biggest of 'Grabbing of the Land' of the Welsh between the 1080's and 1290's, not that the Welsh took it passivelly! In 1294 took place a great 'Welsh National Revolt', this was not just any revolt but a 'Popular Revolt' against the grabbing of our land by the 'Conquistadors' , against English Colonial Laws, Taxation and Conscription (see Popular Revolts in Europe in the 13, 14th and 15th Centuries ). Further 'Popular Revolts' Would follow, the famine driven anti - Tax 1315 - 16 Rebellion of the South led by Llywelyn Bren of Senghenydd (note no statute of in Caerffili, only one of Tommy Cooper?) and, the 1345 Anti - Colonial Settler 'Running Riot' in Rhuddlun in1345 also in the same year a 'Welsh Saint Valentines Day Massacre' of Tax Collectors near Harlech.
.
Much is not recorded of any major revolt in the latter years of the 14th Century but what we do know is of the 'Adar y Griem', in English 'The Birds of Crime', so called ''Common Thieves'' and Mercenaries with no foreign wars to fight but, also possibly 'Welsh Outlaw Resistence' to English Colonial Rule precusors of the 'Gwerin Owain. This brings us to the 'Great Rebellion' aka as Cadw chooses to call it an 'Uprising' but in fact it was an Anti - Colonial War of National Liberation, for the most part in interest of an 'upper class'of 'Welsh Nobles' representing descendents of a dispossessed Cymry who had connections back to 'Welsh Royalty' and the 'Noble Tribes of Wales' of another age pre 1282.
.
However, what made this 'Welsh Rebellion' unique was the fact that how wide spread it was and not least how long it lasted for, not the 10 or 16 years that 'Establishment Historians' claim but, as other historical writters claim up to 1421. Taking into consideration that Glyndwr's son Maredudd continues a Guerrilla War in Eryri until his surrender on 21 April of that year. Though I have researched out a possible 'Gwerin Owain' Rebel being captured and hung in Welsh Pool Castle in 1422. Myself would push this 'Welsh Resistence' up to at least the 1450's as the post 1400 - 16 - 21 war period witnessed a 'Civil War' between families who had been on both sides during the 'Last War of Independence'. I could even push it further on up to time that first so called 'Welsh Tudor' King of England landed at Dale, Penfro and marched to Bosworth via Machynllleth. No!, he was not paying homage to Owain Glyndwr but was more interested in sweeping up the remnants and descendents of the 'Gwerin Owain' - Welsh Outlaw Resistence that had continued 'Their Own War' for many years and, would continue to do well into the 16th century and pose a 'Nationalist Threat' to the Tudors.
.
Not the first major threat to the Tudors, the 'Revolt 1529 - 31' and execution of Rhys ap Gruffydd and the hunting down of his Uncle James throughout Europe for many years. Add to this the great repression of 'Hanging Judge' Rowland Lee president of the Council of Wales and the Marches 1534 - 43. The potential 'Nationalist Threat' continued into the age of Elizabeth I, why else the two Eisteddfods at Caerwys with main purpose to 'Buy the Bards of old Cambria', indeed why? There is another much later another possible but final conclusion to these years of a latent 'Nationalist Threat', at the moment I cannot reveal much because it is quite a major story with some amazing Historical implications as, to continued Welsh 'Nationalist' Resistence to English rule.
.
I need to do much more research to get the complete picture, suffice to conclude this 'End of Days' of Medieval Wales and return to an epilogue for the 'Back in the Day' Owain Glyndwr's ''Great Rebellion''. Condemned and more often as not censored aka 'White Washed' out of History by Welsh 'Sell Out' Tudor Historians, not least culturally destroyed by Tudor English 'Bard Propagandist' William Shakespeare aka 'The Father of the English Identity'. All to sadly the 'Uncle Taffies' amongst us contine to 'suck up' to Shakespeare because the 'Shakespeare Industry' pays so well?
.
The Welsh Nobles and lesser Gentry aside, I have no doubt that 'Byddin Glyndwr' was largelly a 'Peasant Army' made up of run away Bondmen and Serfs as well 'Liberated' Tennants of the Anglo - Norman Marcher Lords as occured when Owain Glyndwr swept through 'Central Cymru' into Gwent and 'Bro Morgannwg' in 1402. Following this epic attack upon the power and lands of the 'Marcher Lords', Owain Glyndwr and 'Byddin Glyndwr', camp followers and an huge 'Baggage Train' of supplies and loot, horses and cattle made for the safty of Penrhys in 'Y Rhondda'. From there the whole 'Expedionary Force' returned North by various routes of old Roman Roads and up land Bridle Paths
and 'Travellers and Traders Trackways' through Central Cymru.
.
Enroute your jorney to the North on the 'Long March For Wales' toward the 'Gwerin Owain Heartlands' around 'Llyn Efyrnwy' you will no doubt 'Criss Cross' the path of these Soldiers and followers of Owain Glyndwr. For more information on Owain Glyndwr, see Embassy Glyndwr links below:
