NOS GALAN GAEAF/HAPPY HALLOWEEN: WILL THE 'SHAMELESSS4C' ZOMBIE RISE FROM THE GRAVE IN THE CELTIC NEW YEAR?

THE S4C QUESTION:
MORE OF THE COSTLY SAME OR A REAL CULTURAL REVOLUTION BY PUTTING CYMRAEG MEDIA IN THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES? THEN MAYBE WHERE 'Y HEN IAITH ACTIVISTS' LEAD ENGLISH SPEAKING COMMUNITIES COULD FOLLOW AND JOIN IN A POPULAR PEOPLES COMMUNITY CULTURAL MEDIA REVOLUTION. WHY NOT?

Before we get on to anymore of the serious stuff vist the below blog:

Don't confuse what the 'Cymric Chattering Clases' are saying nor listen to the hypocrits of Labour, Liberals and Conservitives busy in pandering for Plaid 'Cultural Nationalist' votes. Although I would agree that WAG needs to set up an Inquiry or cross party group to look into why and how the Tories, not so much cut the budget of 'ShamelessS4C' but the way they went about it, that was totally out of order! Never mind the squeals of Plant Crachach this is a matter of 'Democratic Dysfunction' and shows up Devolution as about worthless as it can be, the main point however, is why did neither Plant Crachach or WAG demand that 'ShamelessS4C' come under democratic devolved control much earlier? So certainly WAG needs to push on demands for this entire matter to be put under a most full investigative scrutiny, not just as to how the Tories went about but the way they did! Howqever, why didn't 'SamelessS4C' come clean about much long before now, as far as I am concerned there is much similar here to the MP's and their Expense Claims Scandal.

Whatever, lets not look into 'ShamelessS4C' in isolation, lets look into the whole Welsh Media. not least BBC Wales and it's non production of much in the way of quality and parity programming for English Speaking Wales, yes we have some interesting kind of educational programming as present 'Snowdon', a number of 'Walks in Wales' programmes a number of political 'Talking Shop' programmes but none in 'English' similar to that of Pawb E'i Farn. Then there are childrens programmes, loads 'Yn Cymraeg' thru the day largelly produced in Wales/commissioned for 'ShamelessS4C' but none in 'English' with a Welsh Content/Subject matter employing 'English Spealking Welsh' presenters with English Speaking Welsh Kids involved or other minority children for that matter. What's Ofcom got to say about it?

No the non Cymry Cymraeg children have to watch Anglo - American stuff and grow up with Blue Peter, a sure way to be 'Angicised & Acculturalised' . The same applies to Sport, particularly Rugby a game largelly followed by the 'English Speaking Welsh', particularly in the South. So why is it they get no English Language programmes as 'Johnathan'. I could go on listing examples but suffice to say this is not a matter of pitching 'Cymraeg' and 'English Speaking Welsh' programmes against each other, it's a matter of those with concerns in such Welsh 'Media Matters' putting BBC Wales under scrutiny and pressure to produce programmes for English Speaking Wales not just for an Anglo - American Audience. Last but not least why not more music TV for Welsh 'English Language' Bands, many of whom along with budding acting talent are forced to leave Wales to showcase themselves and advance on the Englist Stage and TV, this is no good for Wales as a Nation. Like I said please THINK NATIONAL! ACT NATIONAL! & BE NATIONAL or FIN!!!

There is now however a great danger that BBC Wales will be less concerned about Welsh Language Programming in English if they have to pay for Cymraeg Programmes for 'ShamelessS4C', there in are grave dangers of deviding people behind opposite barricades. Thus, any enquiry on Welsh Media, needs to be across both linguiatic Boundaries, be totally inclusive and transparent and consider all options, not least my suggest of a devolved Community based NATIONAL PUBLIC WELSH TELEVISION SERVICE. Quite simply just dismantle and devolve S4C into the communities of Wales as basis of an all Wales NPWTS, each community service being responsibility of the community and community organisation. Set up by Community Councils working with Menter Iaith, Paperau y Bro, Community Arts Centre, Workers Education and local Technical Colleges etc. Now a number of countries have such community Television, even exiled Kurds in London run a studio and make programmes which they relay to Kurdistan, particularly in Turkey.

So surely the same can be done in Wales, then the ammount of Cymraeg or English Language content will be detirmined by language percentages in each community. All this in the main will be autonomous and local but then a number of programmes form all these community service will be dovetailed into the National PWTS Programme Network weekly sheduale. As for the problem of who gets time priorites, well why not Cymraeg one day and English Language the next day with Sundays given over to other ethnic group multi - cultural programming plus of course my favourite 'Yn Cymraeg' believe it or not, all down to School Assembly and Rugby in the 'sixties'. Politically Plaid Cymru better wake up, realise you fools, that dening English Speaking Wales a share in Welsh Television, means they have been denied any real participation in their 'Media Nation' and that can only make them all the more islated and igorent as to what is going on in Wales and then totally apathetic and disinterested in Wales or anything Welsh other than Sport in main the 'Welsh Rugby Nation'. The Plaid Minister of Culture makes great play in support of 'ShamelssS4C' as being economically benificial, c'mon lets have all the facts and figures in this connection, yes! I mean income and expiditure, pofit and loss and any 'Secreted Away Savings' for rainy days as Local Authorities have done? Then thinks! if we had a real 'Welsh Media City' in Bae Caerdydd and not this 'Anglicised/Acculturalised Abortion' from England how many jobs would that create rather than transferring staff from Bristol and Birminham? Some one out there really needs to suss all this out, you know lets have some bloody 'Joined Up Thinking' from some one. Cymuned or the 'Agony Aunt's' of Abergynolwyn and Llangadog maybe as I doubt if Plant Crachach will be all that bothered as I guess their chief concern is to keep the S£C gravy train still running what ever it is going to cost us in these hard times ahead.

Then as for it's benefit to 'Yr Cymraeg' really? go on prove as per years 'ShamlessS4C' in existence as per language decline 'Yn Yr Fro Cymraeg', as example use Ystrad Tawe maybe! As for jobs, for who and where? after the heady first flush of 'ShamelessS4C' when and where it was Gwynedd and Caernarfon in particuler which benefited, even there most of the original 'cymraeg Companies' have closed down. Anyway consider this for a little while was not 'ShamelessS4C' perhaps part of the problem not the solution regards sustaining 'Cymraeg' in the Cymric Heartlands, after all making so many interested in doing little other than media work and moving to the Cardiff 'Pontcanna Patagonia a vacuum was created in many proffesional and public life areas 'Yn Y Fro Cymraeg' to be filled by 'incomers'. Of which no one wants to talk about anymore, hush! don't mention the 'M' word?

inward migration of English speakers to rural areas ... The 2001 Census shows that 20.8% of the population of Walessaid that they could speak Welsh. ...

      1. Then if Plaid is seen to favour one language group over another this is not going to go down well, get to grips you have referendum and Assembly Election coming up, the last thing you want to do is alienate 'English Speaking Wales'. I suspect the antics of Plant Crachach are going to be Vote Loosing not Vote Winning, not least when it all comes under greater scrutiny as to how S4C screwed up and shut up for so long. Crucial you realise that Welsh News is not the most watchable programming, in North Wales you cannot get it as so many TV's are tuned to Granada. Further, any Welsh 'E.L' Political/Current Affairs 'E.L' Programmes are placed late at night and clashing with the late night films etc on other channels. Then, your big problem is, who reads Welsh Paper Print Media? go into any number of news agents in Working Class areas and you will not see one Western Mail on Sale. Worse, go into the news agents in our Cities on a Saturday Morning and you will see 2' or 4' piles of The Sun, about 1' of the Daily Mirror with Telegraph, Daily Mail and The Express close behind then the London heavies with about a dozen Western Mails on Sail unless it's the Rugby Season, them more are on display and sold for the Rugby Supplements.

This is a pity as I think the Western Mail is a splendid Newspaper for the most part, even though it panders too much to 'Y Crachach' (good for advertizing revenue re bilingual adverts and supplements etc) and otherwise can be just as censorious as other newspapes when it suits. Though interestingly, Western Mail had two aricles on Tryweryn in October whilst a number of 'Cymraeg' media did not? althoug, I suspect the W.M. was pandering to 'Y Crachach'. Plaid Cymru better start focusing as a
lready some Tory A.M's are waiting 'off stage' to champion the cause of English Speaking Wales Television perhaps?

As for Plant Crachach, what dont't they understand, you young fools! Not only is it a matter of 'ShamelessS4C' a long over subsidised business but such that as misarably failed! As for not paying Licence Fees, wake up the Tories found the 'Mediacrach Client Tribe' useful in the past but not any more and this time around after knowing how Thatcher dealt with the Irish Hunger Strikers and Miners they are likly to jail 'Plant Crachach Martyrs' and throw the key away on any non Licence Payers, so let the well heeled Crachach step up to the mark first. If they get jailed no one will really miss them but I doubt if many will risk their grants and subsidies, though the thought of 'Patriotic Martyrdom' might egg them on? However, far better they fought for Wales in otherways, see below:

Now try and work this out, it's the Economy Stupid! Get It? No Jobs = Depopulation, not many will be left in Welsh Speaking Wales to watch any sort of Cymraeg Television. So, thing NATIONAL! ACT NATIONAL! BE NATIONAL Campaign for a devolved Community based NATIONAL PUBLIC WELSH TELEVISION SERVICE but first and foremost join the WELSH RESISTENCE MOVEMENT & STRUGGLE! That really is your Patriotic Priority first and foremost not TV but your People, their Communities and our Nation.

Gethin Gruffydd.

PS: Face it 'ShamelessS4C', has had it's day, it messed up not least big time finnancially. Go on multiply by 28 years the £100 Million plus, if you cannot get a business to work in that time on vast sums of public money then you do not deserve to survive do you? Can you immagine any other business (it is a business, even though a kind of peculier Cultural Capitalist one!) getting these vast sums of money and then failing to sell the product? no! of course not, so lets not get 'Anal' and cry over the 'Spilled S4C Milk'. Time to move on think up something better, that will work for one and all, all our people, the whole Nation and yes of course to the greater benefit of 'Y Hen Iaith' as well but for real the next time around! Otherwise mess it up and there will be more than just hell to pay, 'Yr Hen Iaith' will not be served as well as it really should!
As I keep repeating THINK NATIONAL! ACT NATIONAL! and BE NATIONAL! or if going down the same path you will only screw up again, trust me you will! Unless you jump out of your grant funded 'Cultural Box' and take a look at the big picture and least of all do not isolate this issue to suit the 'Media Crachach' or 'Y Crachach Newydd' - England's Client Tribe in Wales, it will all falter and fail again. Like I said in previous post at this moment in time we really do need a Moritorium on the Welsh Langauge and Welsh Language Industry, FULL STOP PEOPLE!
