Why bother having farms, why not let them revert back to nature after all nothing 'natural' about farms is there particularly if they need all these subsidies to make them pay. What's the point in Welsh Sheep when we get New Zealand Lamb and the Wool makes very little money. Get rid of the Farms, Cattle and Sheep and bring back Wolves, Bears and Boars, turn the Cambrian Mountains into one big 'Wild Life Park' with a few Puma as well. Do you know Indian Farmers get subsidies not to farm acres of land or use certain rural roads so the Elephants and Tigers can meander about with out getting scared of tractors. I mean if the Welsh have got to do their bit for the Environment, why not for Wild Life too? Might as well face facts that most farmers are in an ageing population bracket and many of their children are leaving the Industry so sad to say for they, the land will be lost but no worries the price of land is holding up well compared to much else. Plus there are many other things you can do with land other than stick up windmills and despoil the countryside and desecrate History - Heritage in the Landscape.
