Dear Editor,


As an educated man, Dafydd Elis Thomas astounds me. The population of the world has just passed 7 billion. It was not forecast to get there until 2014. It will surpass 10 billion by 2050 with ease !! Yet it was only 1.65 billion in 1900....... reduced to 1.52 billion by 1950 , largely due to two World Wars, devastating Spanish flu, smallpox and malaria. The population shot past 3 billion in 1960 ; 5.2 billion in 1990 and 6.1 billion in 2000. The phenomenal increase is all occurring in the poorest Third World countries, mainly in Africa.This is what global politicians should be addressing.What happens when poor peoples get richer and all want cars and other consumer goods? China and India , with about 28 per cent of the world population are already industrialising rapidly, and opening new coal-fired power stations every week. We are subsidising the Third World to take our industry away from us, so how is the world saving on CO2 emissions? The good news is that even though CO2 emissions have risen over the last ten years average global temperatures have not. Besides, if Dafydd Elis Thomas had his wish and saw Powys and Clwyd buried under a forest of ,say, 500 gigantic wind turbines 400 feet high, they would still only generate a paltry sporadic 250 megawatts , or a sixth of Aberthaw's output ! Yet because of the need for constant back-up, they would not close a single fossil fuel power station anywhere !! Madness ! So what would they achieve? Nothing ! Apart from wrecking our landscapes and tourist economy ! Final thought....the world population is increasing by the equivalent of the Welsh population.....EVERY FORTNIGHT !! So what difference will wrecking Wales make to anything globally? .....And since when have Dafydd Elis Thomas's political colleagues ever written "Cofiwch Bangladesh !" on a Welsh rock?

Wonderful Lyn, bravo! keep up the good work, sooner or later the 'Devolution Dummies' will get the message, trouble is, it's 'Crachach Cymru' are making a mint out of it all. Then unfortunatly, too many 'Welsh Cultural Nationalists are fixated on sustaining 'ShamelessS4C and 'Emotionally Blackmailing' English Speaking Wales to go along with this at expense of they having a very poor 'English Language' National Welsh TV Service. Then of course many Political Welsh Nationalists are nought but pretty politically empty headed and to be so patriotically challenged they cannot rise above being little other than 'CRACH FODDER' who consider that remembering Tryweryn or Cofia 1282 is the ultimate way of expressing their timid taffy nuetered negative 'no hope and 'no fight' nationalism. Mean while the 'main man' gets his way, why is that just how much patriotic stupidity exists in Cymru/Wales to go on allowing a 'sell out'  English Lord to be self appointed 'Lord Protector' who wants to be 'Dafydd Dictator'. Our country has had bags of traitors in it's history but as far as BRADWYR FAWR and Quislings are concerned there is a big three, they being Lloyd George, George Thomas and last but not least Dafydd Elis Thomas, a right WAGGER but one that has plenty of cards behind his back!
