full stop! Let me explain to you in Six short sentances
why it's game over politically for Plaid Cymru:
1: Media, is all English and external to Wales and the Welsh just do not interest themselves in Welsh News and Political Issues anyway unless it's in their faces. Thus it is impossible to initiate a National Debate on question of Welsh Independence that will anyway only be dumped on my English Mass Media majority daily reading in Wales.
2: Cymru/Wales is over run with 'Incomers'. mainly English who want to remain 'English' plus now many ethnic 'assylum seekers' and 'Economic Refugees'. In the past these as the Irish, Italians and English even would be obsorbed into a certain 'Welshness' even if it was only 'Sports Nationalism' but not so today for verity of reasons.
3: Ecomoically, we are in the doldrums and we are not going to get out of it. On top of this Wales never had the Borough system has did England and Scotland which allowed for trade across the Seas, developing an indigenouse national economy. Even our successful expulsion of the Vikings worked against us, if one considers how Viking Settlements were of advantage trade wise to Ireland.
4: That long border with England and the regular conomic and social cross border relationships; personal and otherwise totally works against 'Welsh National Unity', the political stupidity of Plaid Cymru not supporting Powys Against Windmills as thrown Powys closer to Mercia.Other than this consider the many links between Wales and England, Welsh and English since 1485. Not least in age of British Empire we benefited and were loyal partners in trade and wars which have tied us to England as now a lap dog.
5: Wales socially via intermarraige and over the last 100 years to and froing across the border for work, entertainment and socialising. Along with the Internet and facebook all provides access to a World largelly dominated by Anglo - American Culture through medium of the English Language. Today our children can leave and trravel the World and settle almost anywhere and create a better life for themselves than ever possible in Wales. In this age of Economic depression and decline how can we stop this depopulation and anyway should we only on the basis of an appeal to Patriotism?
6: What can we do? Welsh Independance in Europe but Europe wants us as a colony not a Independant Nation State. Welsh Politicians have totally messed up in economic miss use of vast sums of Euro Money and on top pf this Plaid Cymru voted to hand over much Welsh Land and Resources to the Windmill Master Robber Barons to make a fortune on the Stock Market.
Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc! Etc!
Conclusion:
It's a 'No Win' situation, what counts now is how we go down, fighting as the heroes of 1282, 1294, 1315, 1345 and not least of course in the Struggle For Stryveland which concluded in 1334 with a Welsh Victory. Is there any hope, of course there is, if there had been no hope Owain Glyndwr and his Welsh Partisans would not have fought on for 21 years - Get This Too - a Country Wales of some 500.000 against England a Country of Three Million, on top of that a Militarist War Machine comparable with America today. However, to fight requires guts, that is Courage backed up with conviction and Conviction which you will not really find in Welsh Politics today. So? up to you!
There can be no soft option only an hard fight of it, that will be on our Mountain Tops in June and not least at the 'Betws Barricade', you might just make history or become forgotten! a Failed struggle! Failed Patriots and Failed Nation - It is time for Patriotic Resergence.
