I only met Richard Livsey once, that was earlier this year at an event at Cefn Caer, I of course knew of him very well as a good Welshman, Poiltician and Patriot also as a supporter of the Welsh History Forum. When the WHF used to be responsible for the annual Rali Cilmeri he would chair the event for them, in recent years he had been a key supporter of developments at Cefn Caer's Glyndwr Inititiative. It was in this capacity I met him and talked with him for a little while. He was very interested in my Merthyr Background and I was suprised to learn of his Merthyr background, we passed a little time together and I for a change did most of the listening as what he had to say was so interesting. I of course would not have agreed with much of his politics but no one could denie his 'Humanism', I left him thinking like most that will be said of him 'What a Gentleman' and no doubt as great a patriot as we are likly to ever see. The news of his death is indeed sad news and will be a great loss to Wales, particularly regards the support he would have given to the fourthcoming Referedum on Assembly Powers. My best wishes to his family and hopefully the many good words that will be spoken of him will ease the loss of his passing away.
