...the VYRNWY CAMPAIGN ISSUE 2010. Of course the depopulation of Wales in the 18th and 19th century was never on the scale of Scotland's Highland Clearences, our Industrial Revolution saved our skins in that area. However, depopulation has been a fact of life in rural and industrial Wales, rural Wales had depopulation under way from Tudor times up to the 'Patagonia Venture' that continued up to 1911. Rural depopulation continued with industrialisation of the Agriculture Industry and Agricultural Depression in the 'thirties', so too in the Industrial South unemployed Welsh Miners with families departed for the Kent Coalfield and towns as Slough, my own family experienced this urban Industrial depopulation.
.
Of course I only touch on this in a small way here as in main introduction to my main purpose of harping on about Vyrnwy untill some nationalists out there listen to me and refocus their minds here and not the Eisteddfod. Possibly 'Cultural Nationalism' to fore again, ever undermining true radical Political Nationalist Struggle. Though I would have though given all the 'Cofia Dryweryn' anxt over a crumbling down wall, even 'Cultural Nationalists' would have some concern regards what is going on at Vyrnwy, yes? But no! by the looks of things? well lets see if this one last attempt to focus attention on this issue, to arouse greater interest and maybe some action? if I point out another pertinant fact, which is the matter of the eviction of people from their land and in the case of Elan Valley no compensation was paid other than to Land Owners, see links below:

It is interesting that in chosing a memorial to put up at the Elan Valley Centre, subject adopted was that of an Irish Dam worker, interesting his head hangs low supposedly meaning tiredness after a day's work. Maybe not, it could mean shame that a Celt again used by the English to do the 'Dirty Work' on other Celts? Whatever, it's interesting that no way were they going to stick up a sculpture of Welsh Familes being evicted from their homes to make way for the drowning of Welsh Valleys for English Reserviors. How many times was that repeated, at Claerwen and Clywedog and Vyrnwy, we are more than informed enough of 'Cofia Dryweryn' but what of the afore mentioned? Not least would that £80.000 to be thrown away on a crumbling down wall to drench 'vainglory' on Crachach 'Top Cat' Meic Stephens, not be better spent on a major Sculptre 'Installation' at Elan Valley as a memorial to the evicted Welsh, the dispossessed also victims of rural depopulation.
.
I will add a message to all those totally 'non thinking nats' with their knee jerking patriotism calling to save the wall and put up some money to preserve it from random daubers. Why not re focus and for a change jump out of your small minded 'partriotic boxes' and do for a change some creative patriotic thinking that turns your mind toward to raising money to have a memorial for all the 'Reservior Dispossed' installed in the green grounds outside the Elan Valley Centre. After all there is one for the poet Shelly, so 'C'mon Cymry' maybe we should demand one for the 'Reservior Dispossed'. I tell you what on your way to the Eisteddfod why not call in at the Elan Valley Centre to see the two aforementioned memorials and maybe demand a third be placed there as aforementioned 'Reservior Dispossed'. Anyone out there care to research this more? maybe good subject for poetry, even a song, but preferably lets see some action at Vyrnwy, yes! To inspire you further take a look at below:

This so called Cymric Cause has become no more than 'Nationalist Nonsence' bit of a fraud if you ask me! Our Country, Communities and people deserve much better than this. The sad thing is 'better' is out there, I see their letters in the Western Mail. Why is it they are not leading Plaid Cymru and not the failed plonkers who are, defeats me?
