The Referendum 'yes' result for now suffice to say some quite amazing major nice yet to be explored suprises, I was as much as most myself suprised. I thought the Yes Campaign would edge it because the No Campaign was so misarably bad and negative, if they had more good spokes persons as Rachel Baner but then she lost the plot in the end. If they had persued the true devolution arguement and not waffled on about 'Slippery Slopes' and if they had not then been dumped by those in the Welsh Labour Party who were anti - Devolution but shut up and stayed in the background because they were told to do so or desereted the 'No' cause altogether.

Then things might have been different, I think myself they also shot themselves in the foot by not becoming the official 'No' opposition as if they did not have enough foot soldiers then money for media adverts could have paid off! They also got wrong the fact and here they should have known better that all these years down the road since previous two referendums on Devolution. There were more, many more who had a Status and finnancial interest in keeping the Assembly Show on the road, as well not least the Welsh chattering classes and Welsh Language Industry. However, another major suprise was in fact that given most Welsh, that is English Speakers cannot get Welsh News or are disinterested in Welsh News, it is most amazing that 'Yes' figured on the radar screen in such a big way. Remember most Welsh People read the English tabloids and all to sadly the Western Mail readership is very low.

I say sadly, because I started reading Western Mail as a teenager way 'back in the day' and it did in many ways contribute to by growing 'Cymric Consciousness' and thus strong Welsh Identity. How? simply by making me aware of all and everything to do with Wales, past and present, about the geography of Wales and the people of Wales, not least the General news and Politics of Wales. Though, I have known 100's over the years who have never opened the Western Mail, then not least unlike 'Y Cymry' the Welsh (E.S) do not have programmes as Pawb e'i Farn to participate in unless it's in course of a referendum as recently. So just how did the 'Yes' campaign pull it off, it does not take a genius to know the answer to that, more self interest groups to back up, more sure of themselves and slicker but also a lot of pulling of strings, bullshit and lies too!

So will the WAG Welsh Ref Result be best describes as an amazing change of attitude or as more the 'Welsh March Hare' madness, how else can one explain it? is it all down to no more than what I have descibed above or is there something else to add to the mix? It cannot be just a stage managed, perhaps unfair to say it was a Confidence Trick? What about then that awful condescending 'Rugby Ticket' politicking, pathetic that Plaid Cymru went along with that 'Three Feather' Cambrian Patriotism crap, they will pay for that mistake believe me. Personally what I think did the trick was fear of the Tory Governement and the need to have a stronger Assembly to defend Wales against that Government. If anything though Plaid can pull out the numbers in rural Wales, with Labour backing the rural vote was even more solid for a 'yes'. Like wise in the Urban areas but in the North East and South it was the fact that Labour, the Left generally and the Unions could call out huge numbers in support of a 'yes' vote that won it to the joy of most but for how long perhaps?

I am not going to indulge on how many voted and how many did not or even the abstentions, as after all the Lord Mayor of London was elected on less and so too American Presidents including Obama. The once
'Liberal Darling' his election to power is now more and more contested as a stage managed confidence trick that is as much working out for Capitalism and the war machine as it might be in a small way for the workers and vast underclass of America. History for the most part is moved by minorities not majorities, at least in the initial first instances. History often records the event concerning a minority rather than a majority as example 1910 Tonypandy Riots carried out by a few 100 radicals whilst at Aberdare same night a boxing match was attended by 1000's. In 1911, history tells us more of the Caernarfon Investiture rather than the Llanelli
Riots and other
Labour disputes . Some schools teach more of Henry V than they do of Owain Glyndwr and some schools teach more about Tryweryn than Aberfan or of Saunders Lewis more than Niclas y Glais. History after all is subjective no matter who writes it the victor or later the vanquised.

So what will 2011 be remembered for a Yes Vote in the Assembly Referendum or the English Royal Wedding being wildly celebrated all over Cymru/Wales or wishfully thinking a radical Welsh Republican Resurgence against the English Crown in Wales? Now that is what I would call an amazing 'Change of Attidude' indeed and really something to write up on in a diary and noted on the calender as a real ground breaking historic Welsh event 29 April 2011 the day the Welsh Patriotic Resurgence began aknew for real. Though it's more likly Patriots will run into their bunkers or if stupid enough book into Adam Phillip's Patriots Self Internment Camp Corris. More and more now I consider as possibly more worthy a contribution to the long weekend Machynlleth Comedy Festival with a Patriotic Parade of Clowns against Colonialism maybe?:

Rather than being involved in Welsh Radical Republican Resurgence Resistence in an April ADFYWIAD GWLADGAROL 2011. Oh! The Fools! The Fools! The Fools! How they betray true Patriotic struggle in their 'Boy Scout' weekend camping at Corris. Pretty sad too, that John 'Mac Man' Jenkins is possibly to be up front with the 'Boys in the Band' rather than to the fore in helping to mount a Patriotic Resurgence, it is perhaps a truism that heroes die young before they just fade away a mere shadow of their former 'Freedom Fighter' selves?

Though before the Royal Couples big day there is another date that might make Welsh History big time, that being the 5th May 2011 Welsh Assembly Election day. Quite possibly the day the Assembly becomes a Labour Assembly and becomes what the Welsh Communist Party sees as the Road to a Peoples Parliament. Whilst for Plaid Cymru this might mark the day Plaid began to retreat back into their rural heartlands of Pura Wallia and I will be quite happy to helping them on their way by calling upon Welsh Nationalists to vote Welsh Labour in the Assembly Elections. As to why I will explain in a future post. suffice now to inform:

It's time to be honest with our people and go for it, not by wishy washy back peddling flim flamer means. There will be risks but best be truthful in all matters, lets return to
America worth reminding of fact that those who stood for Independance were a minority who made a stand and were fit for the fight! However, remaining on America, there were later post Independance betrayals, I would advise Welsh Patriots to see the DVD of the Film 'Revolution', see link below with comparison to two other films on subject of the American War of Independence. Last but not least check out some history on early American Revolts against their own central government, as the Shays and Whiskey Rebellion.
